Which is stronger ceramic or porcelain sink?

2023-11-14 15:01:48

Both ceramic and porcelain are strong materials used in sinks, but porcelain is generally considered the stronger of the two.

Ceramic sinks are created by mixing clays, fillers, and fluxes before heating and cooling them into shape. They are durable, sealed, and tough to stain. However, they can be easily chipped, more susceptible to scratching, more prone to wear and tear over time, and sensitive to higher temperatures.

Porcelain sinks, on the other hand, are often considered the most rigid clay imaginable. They are created by heating fire clay in a kiln between 1200 and 1400 degrees Fahrenheit and shaped. During the creation process, glass and metal can be mixed with clay to add strength and heat resistance. Porcelain sinks are more resistant to cracks and have a smooth surface that’s less porous than ceramic, making them more resistant to staining. However, they can be affected by cleaning chemicals which can make their finish fade over time.

In conclusion, while both materials have their pros and cons, porcelain is generally considered stronger but can be affected by chemicals and stained over time.
